Air up: the company
Before I delve deeper into the drinking bottle, I would like to first look at the company. Who or what is air up?
Air up is a German company, founded by five people (Fabian Schlang, Tim Jäger, Lena Jüngst, Simon Nüesch and Jannis Koppitz) who wanted to create an innovative new product. With the bottle they have launched a unique drinking bottle that simply makes drinking water tastier (and more fun).
The bottle is now sold worldwide, the reviews are actually all quite positive. Many people use the air up bottle to drink more water.
The way this method works, with the flavors, I will come back to later. But it’s actually a clever way to fool your brain.
Air up bottle: everything you need to know
The air up bottle is the company’s only product, apart from the pods and associated accessories. The latest version has a number of improvements that make the bottle close better.
The principle is actually very simple, but well thought out: you drink water, but by adding a scent, you still taste a taste. Adding this scent is done with a so-called pod, but more on that later.
Because you smell the odor, for example orange, while drinking, you think you are drinking water with an orange flavor. It can be that simple.
Let’s start with some features of the air up bottle.
Bottle is made of BPA-free Tritan – This is a strong but light material made by an American company called Eastman Chemical Company.
650 ml capacity – The content of the air up bottle is 650 ml
Long, thick straw – You actually drink through a long, thick straw that is integrated into the bottle. You can of course remove this for cleaning.
Not in the dishwasher – The water bottle and other parts must not be put in the dishwasher. So cleaning has to be done by hand. There is also an accessory for sale to keep the air up clean.
screw cap – The outer cap of the bottle is a screw cap, with a handy carrying loop.
customize – The bottle comes in a number of standard colors, but other colors of screw caps and carrying loops are also available to customize the bottle.
The air up bottle initially looks like a regular drinking bottle, but as soon as you open the cap, you immediately see the pod. You can pull/push this pod up and down. This way you can activate the taste (or actually smell).
If you open it completely, you logically have more smell than when you open it, but for a (smaller) piece. When you’re done drinking, you can push the pod back down and screw the cap on the bottle.

How exactly does air-up work?
In the images below we actually see exactly how the air up works. You smell something, but then immediately taste it.
This will be the retronasale geur called. In fact, it is nothing more than tasting with your nose. As soon as you smell something, it goes to it reukcentrum in the nose and this is converted by the brain to taste.
In this way you can actually taste by smelling. This may sound strange, but a large part of our taste is done by smell.
💡 You don’t really taste 80% of the things you taste. You can smell this. That’s exactly how the air up bottle works.
Air up bottle where to buy
The big question is: where to buy air up bottle? Due to the high demand, it has been difficult to buy the popular bottle for a while, because there were not enough stocks.
We also see that there is no longer stock at several retailers, but at the time of writing you can simply visit the official site. Here all bottles, accessories and pods are offered for sale.
The delivery time is also relatively short. The products are shipped from Germany, but my orders generally arrived within two days and were delivered with DHL.
So the answer to the question: where to buy air up bottle is actually very simple: at the company’s official website.
Buy air up bottle Kruidvat
You would think that this popular water bottle is also for sale in drugstores, such as the Kruidvat. But if you want to buy an air-up bottle at Kruidvat, you will be disappointed: the bottle is simply not available there.
This may be due to the fact that the makers of the bottle have decided not to sell through too many other stores, because the margins are simply higher.
Air up blocker
Another candidate to buy the product is at the Blokker. The range of this Dutch store fits well with such a bottle. However, if you search for air up Blokker, you will not find a water bottle here either. This means that you simply cannot buy air up from the Blokker.
The reason seems to be the same: the products has decided to sell the products mainly through their own website.
Air up Bol.com
At Bol.com it is a different story, the bottle is offered there. If you search for an air up on Bol, you will see that a product appears.
At the time of writing, this is in any case available at Bol.com. However, I have recently noticed that there is not always a stock available. So it’s good to check if copies are available. To be sure, you can check whether the air up is in stock at Bol.com.
Air up pods
By now you know how the bottle looks and works and where it can be bought. Then it makes sense to take a closer look at the air up pods.
The pods are actually the flavor (or scent) makers of the system. What you taste while drinking water is in these pods.
The air up pods come in many different flavors and therefore offer something for everyone. I have now been able to try about 10 flavors. I have now found a few favorite pods, but there are also those that I personally like less.
The air up pod is made of plastic (which is actually a bit of a shame, but probably necessary? You simply place this on the mouthpiece of the bottle, after which you can slide it up and down.
When the pod is up, it is actually open and emits a scent. When it’s down, you’re just drinking water without any flavor coming out.
Air up pod
Below are some features of the air up pods, what can you do with them and how long do they last?
Pods are good for 5 liters – The pods can be used to flavor approximately 5 liters of water. The bottle has a capacity of 650 ml, so one pod can be used with just under 8 bottles (7.69 to be exact).
Set the pods less ‘open’ for longer use – If the pod opens, you can also open it a little less. This means that less odor is released and you therefore taste less taste. This way you will last longer with the pod.
No sugar – There is no sugar in the pods
Just drink water – When you push the pod all the way down, you drink plain water. No taste, no smell.
Air up pods: the flavors
There are quite a few flavors available for the air up pods. You can buy these in packs of 3 (with the same taste) or you can opt for a sample pack with all ‘favorites’ in it. These are probably the best selling pods.

Air up alternative: are there other options?
It is a special water bottle, a beautiful product. But the question is whether there is also an air up alternative. Of course I did some research, but in the end I came to the conclusion that there is not really a good other option.
You can, however, get started ‘manually’ with a scent + water. This can also trick your brain into tasting the taste when you drink water.
Actually, the principle is the same: take a strongly scented product (think of an orange, for example) and drink water from a straw, while holding the orange under your nose. So you can smell and drink at the same time. Not optimal, but this way you can somewhat experience what an air up bottle does.
What does it cost?
Of course we also have to talk about the price, because that also plays a role in the decision. The air up bottle is not cheap, but in the long run the costs will mainly be in the pods. You will have to buy these after every five (or more) liters to use the system.

Tips for using air up
Before I go to the conclusion, I have listed a number of useful tips for you.
Replace tap water with sparkling water – This gives a completely different taste twist to the water. Personally, I really appreciated this, where I naturally used the Sodastream for the sparkling water.
Be careful with your pods – I’ve mentioned it before, but are you concerned about the cost of the pods? Then don’t open it every time, or choose to drink plain water from the bottle every now and then. This way the air up pods last much longer.
Order a sample pack immediately – If you are going to purchase the bottle, order a sample pack right away to taste the flavors. This is an ideal way to experience which pods you prefer.
To clean – Cleaning is best with lukewarm water and some washing-up liquid. I myself do not use the special accessory.

The conclusion of the air up review? The air up is a special and innovative product that works well across the board. If you have trouble drinking enough water, this is definitely a good choice: it gives a little twist to simple tap water. This alone is enough for some to buy the air up.
However, there are also things to think about: purchasing the bottle is not cheap and if you use air up pods on a daily basis, this can be quite expensive.

The air up bottle is the company’s only product, apart from the pods and associated accessories. The latest version has a number of improvements that make the bottle close better.
The principle is actually very simple, but well thought out: you drink water, but by adding a scent, you still taste a taste. Adding this scent is done with a so-called pod, but more on that later.
Because you smell the odor, for example orange, while drinking, you think you are drinking water with an orange flavor. It can be that simple.
Let’s start with some features of the air up bottle.
Bottle is made of BPA-free Tritan – This is a strong but light material made by an American company called Eastman Chemical Company.
650 ml capacity – The content of the air up bottle is 650 ml
Long, thick straw – You actually drink through a long, thick straw that is integrated into the bottle. You can of course remove this for cleaning.
Not in the dishwasher – The water bottle and other parts must not be put in the dishwasher. So cleaning has to be done by hand. There is also an accessory for sale to keep the air up clean.
screw cap – The outer cap of the bottle is a screw cap, with a handy carrying loop.
customize – The bottle comes in a number of standard colors, but other colors of screw caps and carrying loops are also available to customize the bottle.
The air up bottle initially looks like a regular drinking bottle, but as soon as you open the cap, you immediately see the pod. You can pull/push this pod up and down. This way you can activate the taste (or actually smell).
If you open it completely, you logically have more smell than when you open it, but for a (smaller) piece. When you’re done drinking, you can push the pod back down and screw the cap on the bottle.

How exactly does air-up work?
In the images below we actually see exactly how the air up works. You smell something, but then immediately taste it.
This will be the retronasale geur called. In fact, it is nothing more than tasting with your nose. As soon as you smell something, it goes to it reukcentrum in the nose and this is converted by the brain to taste.
In this way you can actually taste by smelling. This may sound strange, but a large part of our taste is done by smell.
💡 You don’t really taste 80% of the things you taste. You can smell this. That’s exactly how the air up bottle works.
Air up bottle where to buy
The big question is: where to buy air up bottle? Due to the high demand, it has been difficult to buy the popular bottle for a while, because there were not enough stocks.
We also see that there is no longer stock at several retailers, but at the time of writing you can simply visit the official site. Here all bottles, accessories and pods are offered for sale.
The delivery time is also relatively short. The products are shipped from Germany, but my orders generally arrived within two days and were delivered with DHL.
So the answer to the question: where to buy air up bottle is actually very simple: at the company’s official website.
Buy air up bottle Kruidvat
You would think that this popular water bottle is also for sale in drugstores, such as the Kruidvat. But if you want to buy an air-up bottle at Kruidvat, you will be disappointed: the bottle is simply not available there.
This may be due to the fact that the makers of the bottle have decided not to sell through too many other stores, because the margins are simply higher.
Air up blocker
Another candidate to buy the product is at the Blokker. The range of this Dutch store fits well with such a bottle. However, if you search for air up Blokker, you will not find a water bottle here either. This means that you simply cannot buy air up from the Blokker.
The reason seems to be the same: the products has decided to sell the products mainly through their own website.
Air up Bol.com
At Bol.com it is a different story, the bottle is offered there. If you search for an air up on Bol, you will see that a product appears.
At the time of writing, this is in any case available at Bol.com. However, I have recently noticed that there is not always a stock available. So it’s good to check if copies are available. To be sure, you can check whether the air up is in stock at Bol.com.
Air up pods
By now you know how the bottle looks and works and where it can be bought. Then it makes sense to take a closer look at the air up pods.
The pods are actually the flavor (or scent) makers of the system. What you taste while drinking water is in these pods.
The air up pods come in many different flavors and therefore offer something for everyone. I have now been able to try about 10 flavors. I have now found a few favorite pods, but there are also those that I personally like less.
The air up pod is made of plastic (which is actually a bit of a shame, but probably necessary? You simply place this on the mouthpiece of the bottle, after which you can slide it up and down.
When the pod is up, it is actually open and emits a scent. When it’s down, you’re just drinking water without any flavor coming out.

Below are some features of the air up pods, what can you do with them and how long do they last?
Pods are good for 5 liters – The pods can be used to flavor approximately 5 liters of water. The bottle has a capacity of 650 ml, so one pod can be used with just under 8 bottles (7.69 to be exact).
Set the pods less ‘open’ for longer use – If the pod opens, you can also open it a little less. This means that less odor is released and you therefore taste less taste. This way you will last longer with the pod.
No sugar – There is no sugar in the pods
Just drink water – When you push the pod all the way down, you drink plain water. No taste, no smell.

There are quite a few flavors available for the air up pods. You can buy these in packs of 3 (with the same taste) or you can opt for a sample pack with all ‘favorites’ in it. These are probably the best selling pods.

Air up alternative: are there other options?
It is a special water bottle, a beautiful product. But the question is whether there is also an air up alternative. Of course I did some research, but in the end I came to the conclusion that there is not really a good other option.
You can, however, get started ‘manually’ with a scent + water. This can also trick your brain into tasting the taste when you drink water.
Actually, the principle is the same: take a strongly scented product (think of an orange, for example) and drink water from a straw, while holding the orange under your nose. So you can smell and drink at the same time. Not optimal, but this way you can somewhat experience what an air up bottle does.
What does it cost?
Of course we also have to talk about the price, because that also plays a role in the decision. The air up bottle is not cheap, but in the long run the costs will mainly be in the pods. You will have to buy these after every five (or more) liters to use the system.

Tips for using air up
Before I go to the conclusion, I have listed a number of useful tips for you.
Replace tap water with sparkling water – This gives a completely different taste twist to the water. Personally, I really appreciated this, where I naturally used the Sodastream for the sparkling water.
Be careful with your pods – I’ve mentioned it before, but are you concerned about the cost of the pods? Then don’t open it every time, or choose to drink plain water from the bottle every now and then. This way the air up pods last much longer.
Order a sample pack immediately – If you are going to purchase the bottle, order a sample pack right away to taste the flavors. This is an ideal way to experience which pods you prefer.
To clean – Cleaning is best with lukewarm water and some washing-up liquid. I myself do not use the special accessory.

As for the favorite, then a fresh portion of rumors from the blogger kopite7kimi (which is referred to by fairly authoritative resources) the following characteristics are attributed to the top Nvidia video cards with the Ada Lovelace architecture (in brackets – data on their predecessors):
